Destination: Beijing, Lhasa, Xi'an, Shanghai
Day 1. Arrive in Beijing
You will be greeted by our Beijing tour guide and transferred to check in at your luxurious hotel where you are at your leisure to relax and enjoy the evening.
Day 2. Beijing (AB, L, SD)
Beijing is the capital city of China, with population of 17.4 million. We embark for a full day tour which begins at the Tian An Men Square, noted as the largest public square in the world with its monuments and buildings situated around the square's perimeter. Thereafter we will visit the Forbidden City, and Summer Palace whilst enjoying a walk along Lake Kunming. Dinner is served with a fabulous Peking Duck Banquet.
Day 3. Beijing (AB, L)
The 500 years old Temple of Heaven will be your first stop. After that, drive to visit the Great Wall (Badaling Section). Stop at a Jade Museum to learn the history of Jade. In Chinese, jade is pronounced as 'Yu', having a history in China of at least four thousand years. Then explore the Great Wall in the afternoon.
Day 4. Beijing / Lhasa (AB)
In the morning, take the flight from Beijing to Lhasa. Lhasa is known as the "Roof of the World", which has an altitude of 3650 meters above sea level. Upon arrival, the guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer to hotel. Have a good rest at hotel to acclimatize yourself to the high altitude city.
Day 5. Lhasa (AB, L)
An extraordinary day of sightseeing shows Norbulingkha, the Tibetan summer palace, built by the seventh Dalai Lama in the 18th century; the Tibetan Museum, which houses a rich collection of prehistoric cultural relics including Buddha statues in different postures, imperial jade seals, gold albums, gifts granted by emperors, colorful tangkas, and various printed Sanskrit and Tibetan scriptures. Visitors can also see variety of folk art such as unique Tibetan handicrafts, costumes, jewellery, and adornments made of gold, silver, and jade, as well as fine Chinese pottery. And the scenic Drepung Monastery, once home to 10,000 lamas.
Day 6. Lhasa (AB, L)
You'll not soon forget the spectacular architecture at the world famous Potala Palace. Former living quarters of the Dalai Lama, its massive 1,000 room structure towers over this mountain city. Continue on to visit the famous Barkhor Market where you may shop for Tibetan items. At Barkhor Square tour one of Tibet's holiest shrines, revered 7th centuryJokhang Temple, where pilgrims come to worship before the statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha, lavishly enthroned in gold. This evening, enjoy a memorable Tibetan dinner and show.
Day 7. Lhasa / Xian (AB)
Today fly to historic Xian, ancient capital of China and site of archaeological treasures.
Day 8. Xian (AB, L)
You will visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum (Bing Ma Yong). It's known as the 8th miracle in the world. The whole mausoleum is like a cultural treasure vault with large collections of relics. After a visit to the Terra Cotta Army replication factory, drive back to downtown to visit Xian City Wall, an ancient military defense system. Your final stop will be the bustling Muslim Street.
Day 9. Xian / Shanghai (AB)
You will visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Park, the most distinctive landmark in Xian, and Xian Museum. Then fly to Shanghai. Upon arriving, be met by our Shanghai tour guide. Rest of the day is on your own.
Day 10. Shanghai (AB, L, SD)
Today's portion of the tour will take you into Shanghai, China's financial center. Take some time to explore the commercial aspects of Old Street and the quiet Yuyuan Gardenbefore checking out the 120,000 art exhibits in the Shanghai Museum. Afternoon visit the Shanghai silk carpet factory where you can do some shopping. Stroll around theBund, the waterfront of Shanghai, and alongside the Huang-pu River as well as the bustling Nanjing Road. A special farewell dinner of Shanghai cuisine will be served.
Day 11. Depart from Shanghai (AB)
Be transferred to airport to take the flight to your home.
